We work closely with our cooperage Tasmanian Tiger Cooperage, to ensure our wood portfolio of highly sought after fresh, handpicked sherry seasoned oak casks are readily available to meet our needs.
Tasmanian Tiger Cooperage, in partnership with family-owned cooperages in Spain and Portugal, prepares our casks for our single malt whisky by seasoning our casks with fortified wine for one year in Spanish Bodegas. The seasoning journey continues for a further three months during shipping from Spain to Tasmania. Then another year seasoning in Oatlands before the fortified is decanted and filled with our single malt whisky on a first-in, first-out basis. It’s a very costly process - but deserving of our premium single malt whisky.
Tasmanian Tiger Cooperage is nestled within our Shene Estate and the Distillery complex, truly completing our whole whisky-making process.
